elevate with the collective: speaker series
Alua Arthur, death doula and NY Times Bestselling Author of Briefly Perfectly Human joined us in the Elevate with the Collective Community on Thursday, October 3, 2024. To receive a link to the recording of our conversation with Alua, sign up below. We’ll deliver it to your inbox as soon as it is available.
Alua is the founder of Going with Grace, created to relieve the burden of dying without proper end of life support. Alua and her team support people as they answer the question "What must I do to be at peace with myself so that I may live presently and die gracefully?" and support family members through and beyond their loved one's death.
We were in conversation about death, her book and how a death doula can help as families face deaths of loved ones. We also touched on psilocybin and end of life during our talk.
Author of BRIEFLY PERFECTLY HUMAN: Making an Authentic Life by Getting Real About the End, Alua Arthur is the most visible death doula in America today. She is a recovering attorney and the founder of Going with Grace, a death doula training and end-of-life planning organization.
Her TED Talk titled, “Why Thinking About Death Helps You Live a Better Life,” went online in July 2023 and has already received over 1.5 million views. A frequent guest on TV and radio, Arthur has been featured on CBS’s The Doctors and in Disney's Limitless docu-series with Chris Hemsworth, as well as other national media outlets, such as Vogue, InStyle, the Los Angeles Times, The Cut, The New Yorker, New York Times, Marie Claire, and CNN. She has appeared on dozens of podcasts, and a Refinery29 video feature on Arthur and her work received ten million views across social platforms.
She travels the country and the world as a keynote speaker, addressing audiences at medical and end-of-life conferences, universities, seminaries, senior citizens’ communities, and more. Arthur and her team at Going with Grace have trained over 2500 death doulas in 17 countries around the world, growing the movement of circles of care, and she is perpetually on the quest for donuts.
At the heart of each woman’s journey lies the possibility of profound transformation as she grows through her middle essence, the years of perimenopause and beyond. It’s a time where women have the opportunity to expand and reclaim parts of their lives that may have been pushed aside by family, career and health.
Recognizing this special time, as well as living in the midst of it, Kyona and Alex have united their expertise and passions to create Elevate with the Collective. Designed to illuminate the path to wellness, balance, and self-discovery, the Collective is a sanctuary for women navigating the transformative waves of their middle essence, perimenopause and menopause.
Kyona, a Board Certified Ayurvedic Health Counselor and multifaceted holistic practitioner, brings to the Collective over two decades of dedication to the art of conscious elevated self-care. At the heart of Kyona’s mission lies a dedication to elevating women's awareness of their innate power, guiding them to restore balance through transformative lifestyle practices.
Alex, an Integrative Hypnotist and Change Worker, invites women on a journey of self-discovery and profound transformation. Her holistic approach, integrating the mind, body, and spirit, is a testament to her belief in the infinite potential within every woman. Alex's journey from the corporate tech world to the realms of hypnosis and earth medicine reflects her deep commitment to unlocking the doors of perception, empowering women to re-wire their brains and create lasting change.
Together, Kyona and Alex champion the evolution of wellness and personal growth in middle essence women. Elevate with the Collective is more than a collaboration; it's a community, a gathering of souls committed to supporting women through the sacred transitions of life.
