Who is this person?

Hello!

Welcome to all of the new subscribers who joined me via the Elevate with the Collective Speaker Series with Jennifer Chesak.

Down below, I give information on how to only receive notifications about any upcoming speaker series events, but I hope you’ll stay with me so we can learn more about each other!

If you’re new here, or maybe you’ve been on my list for a while but haven’t worked directly with me yet, I’d love to share more about who I am and what I do.

I’m in my middle essence.

What does that mean? It means I’m a 56-year old, with a lived experience that I bring to our sessions. I’m in in the midst of changes every day, and have spent years working on who I am and how I want to be in my life.

I’m a boy mom.

My son is nearing the teenage years. That’s exciting to imagine. I can’t wait to witness his growth and change as he leaves young childhood behind. Kids, step-kids, blended families — all are a part of my experience. Just this week, we realized that my son is now half an inch taller than me.

I’m a dog mom.

At various points, I’ve also been a cat mom. Currently, I have two dogs. They are part of our family. Roxy and Lucky show up on my Instagram from time-to-time, so you can check them out there. And you can follow @roxygoldenseattle to keep up with her adventures.

I’m a partner.

I’ve been married to my partner for over twenty years. He laughs at me because I can’t recall the exact number of years. However, I do know our anniversary date, just not the year… I know the year if I take my ring off and look inside. Relationships are fun and work and compromise. I bring this experience to our sessions.

I’m pro plant medicine.

There is no stigma or judgment from me if you have a relationship with plant medicine. I have a relationship with various kinds of plant medicine. If you want to know more, please ask. It’s also okay in my world to not be interested in earth medicines. It’s all good.

I’m a lifelong learner.

I’ve studied and read, taken trainings and certifications, had experiences and explored in my life. I love learning new things. I love technology. I love travel and learning about cultures other than my own. I continually learn about myself, with a regular self-hypnosis practice, as well as a regular breathwork practice in community. I bring all of this experience to our sessions. I also look forward to learning from you. What interests you? What new idea will I learn from you? What experience will you share that will impact my life?

I live in Seattle.

I moved to the Pacific Northwest over twenty years ago. It is home for now and I love it, but I can feel change stirring. One chapter of our lives will come to a close when my son finishes high school, so who knows where we’ll be after that. Maybe somewhere with more sun.

I used to have corporate and nonprofit jobs.

I worked in the technology space for 25 years as a producer, project manager, account executive and more. I shifted to nonprofit work and was the operations director for a midsize nonprofit. Then I wanted change and decided to become a health coach and then a life coach, with hypnosis shortly following as I found my calling. Along the way the brilliant duo of Melissa Tiers and Simone Seol entered my life. I continue to study with both of these women and they continue to facilitate change and growth for me. I bring all of this lived experience to our sessions.

I work virtually.

I’ve worked virtually since 2008, first as the homepage producer for MSN on the New York shift while at my home in Seattle, then on to other tech positions and nonprofit work. I am accustomed to and adept at communicating over the Internet. Zoom sessions are normal for me, and have been for a very long time.

In my work, I bring the knowledge and experience of hypnosis and change work to all of my sessions. To me, a session is a session. YOU get to decide the focus for our session.

  • Want to work on releasing something in your past that is holding you back? We can do that.
  • Nervous about an upcoming public speaking event? I can help.
  • Feeling foggy and directionless? Let’s explore what’s going on.
  • Noticing that perimenopause is creeping up and starting to impact your life? I work with that too, from multiple perspectives.
  • Experiencing a feeling of anxiety that just won’t settle? Hypnosis and change work can lead to a sense of ease.

My practice includes individual one-on-one sessions as well as groups. I also offer two free experiences each week that you are invited to join.

On Mondays at 9:00 am PT, I host Focused Fifty, a free co-working space. If you’ve wondered if body doubling and intentionally stating intentions might help you focus, join us to find out. It’s a space that is for whatever YOU want to do. Some people work. Some knit. Meal plan. Read. Exercise. What could you do for yourself during a focused fifty minutes of virtual co-working? Sign up for the weekly email reminders and join us to find out.

Also on Mondays at 2:00 pm PT, my business hat goes on and I facilitate a free 30-minute accountability call for people working on the Garbage Post Challenge. We’re all working toward showing up authentically on social media, in our emails, in conversations. When you sign up, I take you through a short email course on what this is all about. We show up to support each other, learn from each other and keep our energy up and moving forward.

As promised, here is the way to opt out of these emails. At the bottom of this message, click the link that says Preferences. There you can opt in to areas of interest and opt out of areas that you’re not interested in. To remain on the Speaker Series notifications, leave checked on the “Elevate with the Collective Speaker Series” selection.

To those who have read this far, thank you. I appreciate the time that you’ve given me today.

If you’d like to share, I invite you to write back to me and let me know one thing that has brightened your day in the past week or an issue that is activating your nervous system. And always, I welcome any questions or comments here via email or you can sign up to have a 30 minute call with me.

With care,
Alex

P.S. We’re on the final few days before we begin Earth Medicine - a 5 Week Self-Care Journey. Info here. To have a call to talk about it, schedule here. We are accepting sign ups through Thursday at midnight.

Hi everyone! I missed sending out a message on World Menopause Day, but that's okay because it's actually Menopause Awareness Month. Around 2 million women in the United States will reach menopause this year. Additionally, There are millions of women who are in perimenopause and maybe don't even know it. I have two community circles coming up about the middle essence journey. Doesn't middle essence journey sound so much better than menopause? I've called these free community circles "What is...

Hello everyone! I'm still buzzing from our conversation with death doula and NYTimes Bestselling Author Alua Arthur last week in the Elevate with the Collective Speaker Series. If you missed seeing her live, you can still sign up to receive the replay when it is released later this week. It was an amazing evening. COMING UP: "What is happening?!?!" is at the end of the month. This is an intro to this time in women's lives when we're either entering perimenopause (It starts earlier than you...

Photo of Alua Arthur smiling and a photo of Alua's hands with her book "briefly perfectly human"

The first time I heard Alua say "thank you so much for giving me a minute of your life to think about the end of it" my life changed. We all have those moments, right? Those moments in our lives that change our path, nudge us a different way, allow us to see from a new perspective. Hearing her was one of those moments for me. I don't exactly remember how I found Alua. I do know that it was on Instagram and it was years ago, somewhere in that pandemic altered state we were all in. Remember...
